I was very fond of Karla and to me, she embodied everything that’s good about NDLTC.  Whether it was berating herself on court or laughing away, she was a huge personality and a bundle of energy.  She was so smiley, so welcoming; my heart would lift when I arrived at the club and saw she was there, or when she arrived whilst I was playing.  There was just something about her presence.  

I was always struck by what a social animal she was and will never forget her almost continuous laughter at the comedy nights; she knew how to have fun!  And what a kind, generous woman.   When I first returned to the club after my illness last year she was deeply empathetic and pressed on me some of her home made kefir, insisting it was better than anything I could buy.   She was right.  That she died doing something for others just sums her up.   

It is just so achingly sad that we have lost her.  May you rest in peace, dear Karla.
